To Soil Less™ Introduces Gardening 2.0 to the World

Los Angeles, CA –June 6th 2011– On the heels of Earth Day 2011, To Soil Less™, a start-up agriculture company in Washington, DC, shares it’s all natural, state of the art, technology of going soilless to the gardeners of the world.  The company has engineered a new technological gardening approach that merges characteristics of marine geology with agriculture, eliminating the need for soil and fertilizers in the gardening process.  To Soil Less™ has discovered a way to grow various types of vegetation from rock or more specifically gravel.
The benefits of going soilless are vast but include: reducing water requirements, reducing weed development, eliminating the need for soil and fertilizers, and lowering the cost of gardening. To Soil Less™ founder Richard Campbell hypothesized this approach in 1994 when watermelons grew from a decorative gravel bed at a family home in Tennessee.  Campbell cites that “As a boy I went rock hunting on family land with my brothers so I knew a little about rocks and geology.  In understanding the anatomy of rocks, I recognized the potential for nutrient matter within rocks to be able to feed root systems.  Seeing the watermelons made me realize the possibility of growing fruits and vegetables from rock and that if perfected, could help solve many gardening woes.”
In the mid-90s Campbell and family developed many gravel beds, producing bumper crops of asparagus, strawberries, greens, cucumbers, all sorts of spices, and more.  Now that it has been proven for long term durability, the family formed To Soil Less™ in the spring of 2011 to share the technological process with the world.
